Committees Involved in the Planning Process
The following committees / groups are involved in various aspects of review and approval of plans, programs, and projects on the UA campus. Additional information about each will be added as it becomes available.
Strategic Planning and Budget Advisory Committee (SPBAC)
In consultation and dialogue with the President, the Provost, and the University community, the Strategic Planning and Budget Advisory Committee (SPBAC) supports and enhances the success of the University through thoughtful and informed advice relating to: strategic planning, assessment of institutional priorities, review of budgetary policies, and the evaluation of programs and services.
Space Committee
The Space Committee recommends to the President's Cabinet policies associated with the efficient and effective management of the University's physical plant and associated planning processes, including but not limited to the Capital Improvement Plan, assignment of space and land use planning and development.
Planning and Design Review Advisory Committee (PADRAC)
PADRAC advises the Associate Vice President of Planning, Design and Construction. It is a standing advisory committee, the function of which is to review proposed projects and plans. PADRAC is responsible for site planning that will meet adopted campus development planning and design guidelines and maintain a sense of continuity campus-wide.
Campus Community Relations Committee (CCRC)
The CCRC is established for the purpose of bringing together the UA, City of Tucson, UMC Inc., and the neighborhoods in the university area to discuss issues, resolve conflicts, find and implement mutually satisfactory solutions to problems and work for the betterment of the community in an atmosphere of respect.
Surface Water Working Group (SWWG)
The intent of this Working Group is to insure that surface water on the UA campus is managed in a safe, efficient, comprehensive, and environmentally sound way. Surface water includes but is not limited to stormwater drainage, water harvesting, and other surface water discharges.
Campus Arboretum / Committee
The Mission of the Campus Arboretum at The University of Arizona is to preserve, manage, enhance, and expand a vital collection of plants in an active, urban Sonoran Desert setting. The Campus Arboretum is guided by a dual committee structure. First is the steering committee comprised of a range of members from throughout the community. In support of the steering committee, there is also a Campus Committee that works with more technical and implementation-related topics.
Public Art Committee
The University PAAC is responsible for the administration of selection processes relative to acquisition of Public Art and the other purposes defined as appropriate for the Public Art Funding Pool. The PAAC is to ensure that selection processes are competitive and consistent with ABOR policy. As the installation of Art affects the physical plant and environment of the campus, the PAAC recommendations are to be made to the Senior Vice President for Business Affairs. Sign Committee
This committee reviews and approves new signs and related wayfinding elements on campus. Contact Mark Novak at 621-1099 for additional information.
Historic Preservation Advisory Committee
The University will encourage public appreciation of historic values through educational programs and through the study and interpretation of archaeological, architectural, and historical resources throughout Arizona. The University's designated Historic Preservation Coordinator (HPC) is responsible for ensuring compliance with the UA’s historic preservation policy guidelines and all applicable regulations of the State. The HPC is responsible for coordinating University activities and projects with the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) as necessary or appropriate, and will be supported in these efforts by campus planning staff. The University of Arizona's HPC will be appointed by the President, is the University's designated liaison with the SHPO, and is responsible for annual reports to them on preservation activities of the University.
AHSC Facilities Commttee
The AHSC Facilities Committee was initiated in 1988 and is appointed by the President of the University and the Dean of the College of Medicine/ Vice President for Arizona Health Sciences Center. Its mission is to monitor the implementation process of the AHSC portion of The University of Arizona Comprehensive Campus Plan and to monitor all site and facilities development on that portion of the campus. The Committee reviews all site and facilities plans and reports its recommendations to the AHSC Council.
