The mission of the Department
of Campus and Facilities Planning is to provide the University
of Arizona with efficient, customer-oriented, professional planning
services in support of the short- and long-range development
of the campus physical and spatial environment.
The University of Arizona has an estimated
daytime campus population approaching 50,000, and a population
density greater than many of our urban centers. Like cities,
the University has a need for a planning department to help ensure
that its future growth and development is orderly, attractive,
and well-planned.
The Department of Campus and Facilities Planning
(CFP) is the primary provider of campus and facilities
planning services for a wide range of University of Arizona "customers."
These services include activities that fall within two general
areas of emphasis. They are:
These activities are appropriately integrated with other institutional
planning functions (e.g., strategic planning), and implement
University plans relating to the physical development and organization
of campus and off-campus properties.
Campus and Facilities Planning provides services

- Capital planning and budgeting
- Facilities programming
- Campus planning
- Urban planning and design
- Environmental planning
- Architecture
- Landscape architecture
- Historic preservation
- Transportation planning
- Wayfinding/signage

Impact Review (DIR). CFP's planning staff is ready to assist

Consulting services include innovative land and advance project
planning to improve the quality and function of the developing
University campus. CFP also provides preparation or evaluation
of preliminary project development concepts; facilities programming;
support of project or process improvement teams; assessment of
alternative future "visions" of the University physical
campus; and, the practical application of campus land planning
principles. CFP works closely with other design disciplines and
academic units to insure the development of high quality campus
plans and projects.
